The new PHEV powertrain is built around a combination of advanced components. It is equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine optimized for hybrid performance, featuring a remarkable thermal efficiency of 43% and delivering 143 hp. The powertrain also includes a powerful EV motor that delivers 135 kW (183 hp) and ensures strong acceleration in both EV and hybrid modes.
In addition, a robust generator delivers 110 kW (150 hp) to efficiently power the EV motor. For optimal motor performance, a lightweight two-speed gearbox is integrated, while a 21.4 kWh battery, one of the largest in its class, offers an impressive range of over 100 km in electric mode.

Thanks to an optimized petrol engine, fuel consumption remains low, even when driving longer distances, enabling a combined range of more than 1,000 km (estimate).

And the best part? You don’t have to choose between low fuel consumption and excellent performance. With a combined power output of 272 hp, dynamic acceleration (0-100 km/h in 6.8 seconds), and various driving modes, you can enjoy it yourself too.
Flexible driving
The new MG HS Plug-in Hybrid offers various driving modes to always get the maximum out of the electric motor and combustion engine:
Full EV mode: after the battery is fully charged in just 3 hours with a Wallbox thanks to the 7kW AC charging capacity, enjoy full EV mode with its silence and smooth ride for 100 km (WLTP).
Hybrid mode: If necessary, the new MG HS Plug-in Hybrid can operate in both parallel hybrid and series hybrid modes to offer alternating strong performance or low fuel consumption. But don’t worry, everything is transparent for you; these different driving scenarios are automatically selected based on speed, acceleration requirements, and battery charge.

Passive safety has not been overlooked, with 7 airbags. These feature a central front airbag that provides protection to both the driver and the passenger. The overall structure consists of more than 70% high-strength steel for maximum protection.

Space on board was central to the development of the new MG HS Plug-in Hybrid. Occupants benefit from generous legroom and headroom in both the front and rear. The rear ISOFIX attachment points ensure easy and safe installation of child seats.
Additionally, the luggage compartment offers a capacity of 507 liters, ready to meet all your needs and equipped with a cargo net. Small items have also been considered, with 19 storage compartments in the interior, 8 of which are for the rear passengers.
